Initial observations:

Easy to read display, Easy to use front panel, Excellent free Wouxun program software.

Measured TX output was 3.9w to 4.8w on high; modulation level was great.

RX sensitivity was hot! .122uv on 144mhz, .130uv on 220mhz, .148uv on 440

About the only negative I could find is that the radio would pickup some noise in one room of our home, but only in that room. It may have been my wifi router in that room, cable modem, television, Dish receiver; but in other rooms or outside... it was quiet.
In that room - I do have coax to an outside dual band antenna; connecting the Wouxun to that antenna (but still located in the "noisy" room) and the radio did not have the noise. Must be something in this one room. I took the radio on a mobile drive of about 20 miles, and the radio was quiet; only receiving intended transmissions.

This radio does not exhibit spurious output like some other Chinese offerings:

There was one noticeable spur on the 220 band (center of second pic, to the right of the green 1), but it was 51db down and within FCC spec.

Display options

Pressing the VFO/MR cycles you through four display offerings:
* VFO frequency
* Memory Channel number (001, 002, 003...)
* Memory Channel frequency (still shows channel number off to the right)
* Memory channel alpha tag (name)

press & release this button until the desired display shows.

Settings

It is easy to make changes to the radio configuration from the front panel. For example:

Squelch Change
* press the Menu button
* Rotate channel knob to get to SQL (02)
* Press Menu again
* Rotate channel knob to change Squelch value
* Press Menu again
* Press EXIT button to save

or

* press Menu button
* press the DTMF button "2" ; this takes you directly to the SQL (02) section.
* Press Menu again
* Rotate channel knob to change Squelch value
* Press Menu again
* Press EXIT button to save

Settings changes I made from factory default

* SQL (02)
Changed to 7. The receiver is very sensitive; and it was picking up far away transmissions, and had to tighten the initial squelch setting

* Voice Guide (09)

Changed to OFF

* ABR (22)

Backlight timer; changed to 10sec

* Poweron (30)

Changed to Batt Voltage

* Scan Mode (14)

Changed to CO

* Mute Setting (49)

Changed to TX (this mutes the sub band RX audio when TX'ing on the main band)

* Sidetone DTMF-ANI (34)

changed to OFF

* Side Key PF3 (20) bottom side button

changed to LAMP

* Callsign displayed

to have your call sign shown near the top of the display; using the programming software... click on the "Key Settings" tab; over to the right is "Interface Display Edit". Change that to your call sign. Note: I could not find this offering in the front panel MENU selections.
