Check your radios modulation using
Brandmeister Hoseline

Summary:

* turn your DMR radio to the group 98 test channel (instructions on doing this below).

* open a browser and go to Brandmeisters new Hoseline page

https://hose.brandmeister.network/#/

* key up and talk, looking at the Hoseline bar graph showing modulation intensity.

Although for this Hoseline test you can use any Brandmeister group (even 310557)... there's a chance a lot of hams would hear it. Brandmeister recently added Group 98, the Test Group, which is perfect for this.

To do this modulation level check using the new 98 test group...you need to enter this test group 98 in your radios CPS groups list, and then create a memory channel that is set to use group 98. Then add this new memory channel to a Zone:

On Anytone radios:

1. read your radio into the CPS

2. Add this new Test Group.

In your CPS, go into: Digital - Contact/Talk Groups from the left side of the computers screen.

3. Double click on a blank entry row. Here is a screen shot of adding the group to your radios list:

fill it out like shown, click on OK

4. over to the left of the CPS screen, go into Public - Channel

5. Double click on a blank channel row. Enter info as shown. Note: the example is for East. To use this Test group on West, use Wests RX, TX, and CC values.

click on OK at the bottom.

almost done...

*over to the left side of the screen again; click on Public - Zone

it should display a list of different Zones you have on your radio. Double click on the specific zone you want this channel to appear in, you should then see this:

* find this newly added Test 98 channel on the left (Available Channel) list, then single click it to highlight the choice.

* click on the right arrow between the two boxes to move this channel to the right into your specific Zone list.

* once successful you should see this new channel appear in the right Zone Channel Member box.

* click on OK at the bottom of the page.

* save and burn your radio with this new codeplug.

to use Brandmeister Hoseline:

* go to this url: https://hose.brandmeister.network/#/

* once there, click on the upper right: Player >

* in the bottom field click in the "select talk group" box and type in "98", and press Enter (there is a pull down arrow as well; instead...just type in 98)

* Key up your DMR radio on the channel you created for this Test 98 transmission and give your call and "testing 1-2-3-4-5" (or whatever) while watching the screen:

Note: you will hear yourself on your computers speakers. My suggestion is to turn down/off your speakers so they don't influence the way you normally talk into the microphone. If some of your peaks are not showing barely into the green, then you should consider raising the Mic Gain in your radio (CPS: Public - Optional Setting - Volume/Audio - Mic Gain). I'd only move it up one number at a time, reburn the radio, and try Hoseline again.
